CLUB HOUSE EXTENSION DESIGN SYDNEY

clubhouse extension

AAPAC
DESIGNBUILD has done a club house design for an extension to a Chinese clubhouse located above a bookstore on Sussex Street, Haymarket, Sydney.  The club house design project involved creating recreation area, offices, store room and toilet facilities to an existing clubhouse.  The club house extension project was complex because the second storey site was enclosed by neighbouring buildings on 4 sides.  The club house extension had to be built on top of the roof of a bookstore below.  The club extension works had to be carried out while the clubhouse, the bookstore and jewellery shop below were maintained in full operation. The original club house design required the use of a crane to bring long structural material into the site over surrounding buildings.  We helped the client to save substantial cost by redesigning the layout and structural system so that material could be brought to the site through a single door on street level and a staight flight stair case of 1m wide, instead of using cranes.

The club house extension design was of cold formed steel floor joists, steel columns, cold formed steel roof structure, aerated concrete block external wall and colorbond metal deck roof.  The club house design for interior was particle board timber flooring, steel stud plasterboard partitions, suspended acoustics tiled ceiling.  A ducted air conditioning system was installed to the new extension and the existing portion of the clubhouse.  A club house refurbishment design was done for the interior of the existing portion so that club refurbishment work could be done at the same time.
