AAPAC DESIGNBUILD
designed and managed the extension of the
Masonic Hall in Double Bay. The project involved extension of
the second storey of the building to create a dining and function
facility within the Hall. It included a prefunction area,
function area, kitchen, store, toilet and air conditioning plant
room. The extension was of steel/timber frame with aerated
concrete panel wall and colorbond steel roof. Interior was
plasterboard wall, timber strip flooring and suspended acoustics tiled
ceiling. The space had a 3.5 m high ceiling.
AAPAC DESIGNBUILD
designed and built the extension to a Chinese
clubhouse located above a bookstore on Sussex Street, Haymarket,
Sydney. The project involved creating recreation area,
offices, store room and toilet facilities to an existing
clubhouse. The project was complex because the second storey
site was surrounded by neighbouring buildings on 4 sides. The
extension had to be built on top of the roof of the bookstore
below. The only access for labour and material was through a
single door on street level and a staight flight stair case of 1m
wide.
The extension
construction was of cold formed steel floor joists, steel columns, cold
formed steel roof structure, aerated concrete block external wall and
colorbond metal deck roof. Interior was particle board timber
flooring, steel stud plasterboard partitions, suspended acoustics tiled
ceiling. A ducted air conditioning system was installed to
the new extension and the existing portion of the clubhouse.
The interior of the existing portion was refurbished at the same
time. The works was carried out while the clubhouse and the
bookstore and jewellery shop below were maintained in full operation.
